Education powerhouse sets up campus in Jaipur


Manipal Education to set up a world class campus in Jaipur; Announces its foray into North India. Smt. Vasundhara Raje - Chief Minister Rajasthan performs the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the proposed world class Manipal Campus. Calls it an icing on the cake for People of Rajasthan.

Manipal University, a pioneer in the field of education with campuses in India and several international locations, today announced its plans for a world –class campus in Jaipur. The “Ground Breaking Ceremony”, held in the city today, was inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Smt. Vasundhara Raje and Dr. Ramdas Pai, Chancellor, Manipal University.
Manipal University is a pioneer in providing quality higher education. The University, known for its strong industry connect and research orientation, aims at continuing its quest towards re-defining the higher education landscape across key locations in India over the next few years.
Commenting on Manipal University’s vision for Jaipur, Dr. Ramdas Pai said, “Rajasthan is our gateway to North India. We will create a world-class campus here and in the long run expand it to have multiple disciplines, research initiatives and corporate out-reach programmes, much as we have in our campus at Manipal. Our goal is to significantly contribute in building and developing human capital that will serve local and regional industries. The Manipal University Campus here in Jaipur will assist in creating a pool of talented work force to support the long term educational plans of Rajasthan.”
Starting Academic Year 2009, The Manipal University Campus in Jaipur aims to grow over the next five years to house over 5,000+ students in a residential facility. In the first Phase, it will offer the following courses and streams of Education
• An Engineering college offering multiple streams• A Banking and Financial services competency Academy • A Management Institute spanning General Management and Specialized Domain Management.• Management & domain competency development programs• Collaborative R&D Activities with Industry
Speaking on the occasion, Honourable Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Smt. Vasundhara Raje said, “Manipal University has stood for education excellence and innovation, we are happy to them here in Jaipur. Our government is deeply committed to enhancing the availability of high quality education to the people of Rajasthan, and to progressively expand Rajasthan’s stature as the leading education hub in this region. The Manipal University Campus at Dehmi Kalan is an important step in this direction.”
Speaking on the occasion, Honorable Education Minister, Rajasthan, Shri. Kalicharan said, “With the establishment of this campus, Rajasthan will move a step closer towards being one of the leading states on the education map of India. The state is slowly but surely is becoming a destination of choice for the younger generation”
Set over an 100-acre area, Manipal University Jaipur campus is expected to be operational starting August 2009, in phases. It will house all facilities such as academic complexes, research centres, student housing, faculty amenities, sports facilities, and more, in an ambience that will be global-class. It will offer a wide range of programmes, and will have as a part of its team some outstanding faculty

The Second Campus of Infosys in Jaipur

Infosys BPO, the business process outsourcing arm of Bangalore-based Infosys Technologies, has invested Rs 171 crore towards setting up the Phase-I of its second campus in Jaipur.
To be built-in phases, the campus -- located in the Mahindra World City special economic zone (SEZ) -- will be spread over 42 acres of land with a total investment of Rs 531 crore. In the first phase, the company has created a built-up area of 3,69,100 square feet with a seating capacity of 3,200 people.
S Gopalakrishnan, CEO & MD of Infosys said, “Jaipur is becoming an exciting destination for the IT-ITeS industry. Our investment in the second campus firmly establishes Jaipur as a significant center for Infosys. We are extremely happy to be in Jaipur and acknowledge the support and encouragement of the state government.”
The Jaipur Campus of Infosys BPO complies with global environment standards to ensure efficient consumption of energy per square-foot and the least carbon footprint. The campus is designed as a green building to meet the gold/platinum rating standard of LEEDS. As a part of Infosys’ effort to become carbon neutral, the campus will have 49 per cent of the total area as the green belt.
Infosys opened its first BPO campus in Jaipur in August 2006, which is operating out of the Sitapur industrial area in the city. The company has made an investment of about Rs 23 crore in the centre which has a seating capacity of 890. With an aim of enhancing the employability of the talent pool, Infosys has partnered with 32 engineering colleges in Rajasthan as a part of its Campus Connect programme. So far, 120 faculty members and 1,914 students have been trained in Rajasthan as a part of the programme.
